Case filed over child rape at Jamalpur Awami League office

  • Process to arrest accused underway
  • Victim undergoing treatment at hospital

A case has been filed over the rape of an eight-year-old boy at the Melandaha police station in Jamalpur on Saturday night.

Melandaha police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Delwar Hossain confirmed the information, mentioning that the father of the victim filed the case as plaintiff. Process to arrest the accused is underway.

The incident took place at the Nayanagar union Awami League office in Malanch area of the upazila Thursday afternoon.

According to local residents, Nayanagar union Awami League office is next to the victim’s house in Malanch area. 

On that day, the eight-year-old boy was called to the Awami League office by office peon Bishu Mia, 45. 

At that time, it was raining heavily and there was no one in the office. During the time, the office peon physically abused the child and at one point raped and threatened him not to tell anyone about the incident.

However, upon returning home, the child informed the incident to the whole family. His father then admitted him to Jamalpur General Hospital.

Currently, the child is under treatment in the hospital.
