Police found eight severed parts of a body inside a suitcase near ghat No 12 under Patenga police station in Chittagong late on Thursday.
Patenga police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Aftab Hossain said: "The suitcase was recovered after receiving information from the local people. Eight body parts were found. However, some parts of the body, including the head, were missing.”
“I suspect that after being murdered somewhere else, the body was dismembered and dumped here. The missing parts of the body have been dumped somewhere else."
"Apart from local police, several other agencies, including the CID, are working on the matter. We are trying to identify the deceased. If identified, it will be easier to uncover clues to the murder. But the body belongs to a man in his 50s," the OC added.
