The Rangamati district administration has imposed a restriction on all kinds of boats in Kaptai Lake until further notice.
It issued a warning notice signed by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan on Saturday afternoon.
According to the notification, due to ongoing heavy rains and landslides in Rangamati, for the safety of life and property, the movement of all types of waterways vehicles in Kaptai Lake will be banned from Saturday morning until further notice.
However, boats engaged in law enforcement and emergency government work will remain exempt from the ban.
The notification also requested all to contact the control room of the district administration for any urgent need.

Kazi Humayun Rashid, officer-in-charge of Rangamati Meteorological Observatory, said 66.3mm of rainfall has been recorded in Rangamati in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, as torrential rains for the last couple of days have triggered the risk of landslides, the district administration has asked the residents living on hill slopes to evacuate their homes.
