Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly beat two Bangladeshis in the border area of Moulvibazar on Monday.
The injured, identified as Jahangir Alam, 24, from Burungamari upazila in Kurigram, and Hridoy Sheikh, 24, from the Notun Bazar area in Rupsha upazila of Khulna, entered India illegally through Khagrachhari's Ramgarh area on Friday.
They were allegedly subjected to mob attacks three times, first in the local Indian station of Kanchan Corner due to a lack of train tickets, then after two nights in local police custody, and finally at a BSF camp.
They were thrown back into Bangladeshi territory on Monday morning, near the zero point of the Lathitila border of Moulvibazar's Juri upazila.
One of them managed to inform the locals in the Lathitila Kachurgul area, who then alerted the local Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the police.
The victims were rescued and taken to Juri Upazila Health Complex, where they received first aid.
Due to the severity of their conditions, they were referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, confirmed Dr Samarjit Singh of the hospital.
One of the victims is in a critical condition, he said, adding that their bodies bore several injury marks.
Lathitila BGB Camp Commander Mohammad Gaus confirmed the incident but declined to comment further without permission from higher authorities.
Juri police station Officer-in-Charge Md Mosharraf Hossain said that legal action will be taken according to the complaint of the BGB.
