“On Friday morning, when she came from her village home, her friend that told her that she would have to leave the place, resulting in an argument between them,” Kotwali police officer-in-Charge Kabir Hossain said quoting locals.
Later she hung herself from the ceiling in absence of her friend, Anjali Chakma, who has remained absconding since the incident.
Locals rescued Purnima in critical condition. She died while being taken to hospital.
Rangamati college girl ‘commits suicide’
A college girl from Rajbari area of Rangamati reportedly committed suicide at a private mess on Friday.
Hailing from Dumduma Union under Jurachhari of the district, Purnima Chakma, 17, used to stay with another girl at the hostel.
She was a first-year student of Rangamati Government Women’s College.
