Update : 31 Dec 2021, 02:06 PM

The northern part of the country is expected to feel the bite of a mild cold spell throughout the first week of the new year.

A mild cold wave is sweeping over Panchagarh and Kurigram, and it may persist and spread to other areas, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its 9am weather bulletin on Friday.

The mild cold wave will continue for some more time in Rangpur division, Meteorologist Dr Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik told the Bangla daily Samakal.

“Temperatures across the country will fluctuate between 8-16 degrees Celsius,” he added.

Meanwhile, the BMD said night temperatures may fall slightly and day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across Bangladesh.

The weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies, it said, adding that light to moderate fog may occur at different places from midnight to morning.

The lowest temperature in the country on Friday was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius in Tetulia of Panchagarh.
