A series of accidents, vehicle breakdowns, temporary toll collection suspension, and reckless driving have resulted in slow traffic movement along an 8km stretch of the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway.
The traffic jam began on Tuesday morning, extending from the eastern side of Bangabandhu Bridge to Hatia in Kalihati upazila of Tangail.
Dhaka TribuneAccording to the police, there were two collisions and one car breakdown on the Bangabandhu Bridge during Tuesday morning. As a consequence, toll collection on the bridge was temporarily halted for durations of 10-12 minutes after 3am, approximately an hour after 4am, and from 5:30am-5:45am, contributing to the traffic congestion.
Dhaka TribuneElenga highway police station Officer-in-Charge Zahid Hasan said: "We are diligently performing our duties on the road. Vehicles have started to move, and we anticipate that the situation will normalize soon."
