Jahangir Alam, former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), said that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had treated him with the same transparency with which they should treat everyone.

He made this remark while talking to journalists at the ACC head office on Tuesday.

"There is no trace of those who filed the complaints. ACC is a state institution, working for the betterment of the nation. They have summoned me in the past and today as well. I have come here with respect for the ACC and the law, answering all their inquiries," said the former mayor.

Jahangir said: "The government allocated only Tk600-700 crore for two projects. However, various departments, including ACC and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives, have levied baseless corruption allegations of Tk7,500 crore against me."

He denied the allegations, stating: "All these falsehoods, injustices, and irregularities are merely on paper. The ACC is currently investigating the complaints they received. I have provided a written response, refuting all the false accusations levelled against me."

He further said: "The people of Gazipur have put their trust in me before, they have proved it again by electing my mother."
