Police on Sunday detained a Rohingya man from Senbag upazila's Munsirhat Bazar area in Noakhali.
The detainee is Noor Alam, 35, son of late Kala Mia in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya Rohingya camp.
According to police, Noor Alam fled from Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar and initially arrived in Chittagong before making his way to Noakhali. Alert local residents noticed his presence and, suspecting something amiss, promptly took him into custody. During the subsequent interrogation, the detainee confessed to being a Rohingya refugee.
Upon receiving this information, the police swiftly moved in and detained him.
Senbug police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Zainal Abedin said a thorough investigation will be conducted and appropriate legal measures will be taken in accordance with directives from higher authorities.
