Two commercial vessels docked at Mongla port on Wednesday, carrying equipment and supplies for two ongoing mega projects in Bangladesh - the Rampal Power Plant and the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge.
Bangladeshi ship Bashundhara Express arrived with coal for the Rampal Power Plant, while Panama's MV Sun Unity brought machinery for the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge in the morning, confirmed the Mongla Port Authority's harbour department.

Toggi Shipping and Logistics Limited (local shipping agent of Bashundhara Express) Assistant Manager Khandaker Riazul Haque said that the ship docked at berth No 8 of Mongla port at 10am, carrying 30,000 tons of coal.
The coal was being unloaded onto smaller lighters and transported to the Rampal Power Plant, said Riazul Haque.

On the other hand, MV Sun Unity brought steel structures for the Bangabandhu Railway Bridge, Ancient Steamship Company Limited (local shipping agent of MV Sun Unity) Khulna Manager Md Ohidujjaman said.
“MV Sun Unity, which had left Vietnam on April 2, docked at the port's jetty No 8 at 11am, carrying 1,548.46 tons of machinery in 169 packages,” he added.
