Train communication between Dhaka and the north-south regions returned to normal on Friday night after over six hours as the two derailed bogies of a freight train were recovered in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj.
The trains that were waiting on the Dhaka-Iswardi rail tracks have now resumed their journeys.
The train services resumed at 8:20pm following the arrival of a salvage train from Pakshi at 7pm.
The two derailed bogies were salvaged after 42 minutes of effort, said Birbal Mondal, railway divisional engineer (west) of the Pakshi Railway Office.
Earlier in the afternoon, around 2pm, two bogies of a freight train had derailed when it reached Iswardi and was changing lines at the Ullapara Rail Station.
