The country's largest Eid congregation took place at the historic Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan in Dinajpur on Saturday, with its organizers claiming that 600,000 worshippers prayed together at the vast eidgah.

The Eid jamaat commenced at 9am and was led by Maulana Shamsul Islam Qasemi.

Worshippers entered the ground through 19 gates, undergoing security checks with metal detectors. A watchtower had been set up inside the Eidgah ground for ensuring the safety of the attendees.

Devotees were only allowed to bring prayer mats and umbrellas to the gathering.

The 22-acre Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan, featuring a 516-foot-wide minaret with 52 domes, employed a four-tier security system involving the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar and volunteers.

Thirty CCTV cameras monitored the Eidgah ground, while 110 microphones were set up to broadcast the prayers. Facilities for ablutions were provided with 250 washing stations, and provisions for water and food were also available.

Prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

Worshippers from 13 upazilas of Dinajpur and various other districts across the country took part in the Eid prayer.
