Firefighters of South Surma Fire Service Station have extinguished a fire that broke out at Sylhet's Kadamtali fruit market on Monday afternoon.
South Surma Fire Service Station's Officer Alauddin Monir said the fire broke out at around 12:30pm and upon receiving the news, they immediately rushed to the spot.
“After about one and a half hours of frantic effort, the fire was brought under control at 1:55pm,” said the officer.
“The cause of the fire will be known after an investigation,” he added.
Md Hanif, a firefighter, and in-charge of the control room of the fire service, said that the fire may have caused a loss of about Tk150,000.
Kadamtali fruit market is considered the largest fruit market in Sylhet. However, no shop was burnt.
