Fire Service and Civil Defence Week-2026 began in Jessore on Wednesday with a colorful rally, inauguration ceremony, and public awareness programs.
The program started at 10 am with a rally that marched through the city’s main streets. Fire service officials, employees, volunteers, and people from different professions took part in the event, said a press release.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Jessore , Sujon Sarkar, attended the function as the chief guest. Other attendees included Assistant Director of Jessore Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Abdus Salam, Senior Station Officer Md Firoz Ahmed, Warehouse Inspector Md Abu Yusuf Panna, and Lutfar Rahman Khan, along with other officials and members of the department.
Speakers at a brief discussion meeting highlighted the importance of fire prevention, disaster preparedness, and public awareness. They said the Fire Service and Civil Defence continues to work tirelessly to protect lives and property through quick response, professional skills, and awareness activities.
Organizers said various awareness campaigns, training sessions, and mock drills will continue in Jessore until May 22 as part of the weeklong observance.
