At least three people were killed in lightning strike and hailstorm in Shariatpur on Sunday.
The deceased are Shaheen Sheikh 35, Naria upazila's Dingamanik area, Sirajul Oja 40, and Shaheen Moral 40.
Naria police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman said: "Two people died on the spot while fishing in the rain in Kushia Saju Member's pond in Gharisa union. Another person died while being taken to Naria Mulfatganj Hospital."
All individuals who were fishing in the pond in the Gharisa union were killed in a sudden lightning strike, according to Bulbul Ahmed, a member of Ward No 5 of the Dingamanik union.
Naria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Rasheduzzaman said: “Three middle-aged men died in lightning strikes. We will take necessary measures for the victims as per our rules.”
