A photo of Chittagong University (CU) Chhatra League President Rezaul Haque Rubel has recently gone viral on social media in which he is seen getting his feet massaged by two leaders of the same unit.

The image gained a lot of attention on social media on Monday. Online users have already started a number of debates and criticisms.

Nazmul Samir mocked the Chhatra League leader on Facebook in a post saying: "I have not met Ottoman or Mughal emperors, but I have seen CU Chhatra League President Rezaul Haque Rubel. My life is now complete. There are no more imperfections in my life."

Md Bin Yamin Mollah wrote: "The decision is yours: do not be a slave, be a human being. Rezaul Haque Rubel, president of CU Chhatra League, is being rubbed on the foot by his own organization's leaders."

According to CU Chhatra League, the photo is of room 311 of the university's Shah Amanat Hall. Rezaul Haque Rubel resides in the room. Shamim Azad, deputy program and planning secretary, and Shafiul Islam, deputy sports secretary, are the two leaders who were massaging his feet.

Rezaul Haque Rubel asserted: “The image is two and a half years old. This picture was captured when I was ill. Now this picture is being used to politicize me.”

Rubel explained: “My two juniors treated me since I was sick. It was an act of compassion. Someone who was with me at the time took the picture and is now involved in dirty politics.”

“When someone is ill, we go to see them immediately and take care of them. It is quite normal. People who engage in dirty politics create these atrocities.”

When asked about the matter, Shamim Azad claimed: “Rubel was sick, so we were putting ointment on his feet. When someone in the family becomes ill, others step up to help.”

Rezaul Haque Rubel was a statistics student at CU of the 2006-07 academic year. He completed his graduation in 2010.

In 2013, he received his master's degree. Then, on July 14, 2019, he was appointed president of the CU Chhatra League chapter. While the president's tenure is just one year, he is still in charge. Other students in his batch graduated from the institution at least nine years ago. However, he is still living on the CU campus.
