The Rajshahi University authorities have ordered the closure of shops inside the campus by 8:30pm in order to maintain order and reduce the number of outsiders.
A notification issued on Tuesday said the university will take necessary measures if any shops fail to comply with the directive.
Vice Chancellor Sultan-ul Islam said: "If we want an orderly and beautiful campus, then shops are a big issue. There are a lot of outsiders as shops are open inside the campus. Students also want fewer outsiders. I hope that this campus will be beautiful with the cooperation of students, teachers and staff.”
Academic activities of the university resumed on Tuesday after being closed for two days due to clashes between locals and students.
Traffic also returned to normal on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in front of the university.
More than 200 people, including campus journalists, were injured in the clash that broke out between Rajshahi University students and locals on Saturday.
In the evening, an altercation between a student of the university and employees of a bus over bus fare reportedly snowballed into a clash with local shopkeepers.
During the clash, the students allegedly set fire to several shops in the area, and the police box adjacent to the Binodpur gate of the university was also vandalized.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and fired tear gas and rubber bullets.
The students later occupied the university premises while locals were outside the campus.
The situation reportedly calmed down after 11pm that night.
