The Rajshahi University authorities have banned the entry of outsiders without permission into the campus.
A press release signed by RU Public Relations Office Administrator Prof Pradip Kumar Panday said that outsiders cannot loiter inside the campus unnecessarily.
The development comes following Saturday's clashes that broke out between Rajshahi University students and locals. More than 200 people, including campus journalists, were injured in the clashes.
The incident took place near the Binodpur gate of the university. The incident allegedly took place over bus seats.
The press release issued on Monday said: "If someone needs to come to the campus for any reason, the security personnel at the entrance gate will allow them to enter after verifying their identity and confirming the reason for their entering the campus."
"The authorities are urging all concerned, including teachers, students, officers and employees of the university to keep their identity cards with them," said the release.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed against an unidentified number of students of the university on charges of stealing property belonging to the Bangladesh Railway.
Bangladesh Railway Rajshahi Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer Bhavesh Chandra Raj Bangshi filed the case with GRP police station on Monday.
According to the case statement, agitated students of the university set fire to the railway line near Rajshahi University Arts Gate at 7:45pm on Sunday.
The students allegedly stole 92 pandal clips and one steel slipper. They also destroyed three wooden slippers, according to the case statement.
Police on Sunday filed a case against some 300 people over Saturday's clashes. On Sunday afternoon, RU Registrar Prof M Abdus Salam filed a case against 400-500 unidentified people with Matihar police station.
A group of youths set fire to railway tracks on Sunday night following the clash between students and locals, halting rail communication between Rajshahi and Dhaka.
Regarding the incident, Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar said those who had set fire to the rail line were not students of the university but outsiders.
Prof Sattar said this at a press briefing at the administrative building of the university around 1:30 on Monday.
"We tried to make the agitating students understand about ending the demonstrations and are working to solve the issue," the VC said.
Prof Golam Sabbir said the RU authorities are also working to ensure proper treatment of the students who were injured during the clashes.
He said the university will resume academic and administrative activities on Tuesday.
