Locals said that the massive explosion shook the surrounding area by at least two square kilometres

The authorities have formed a seven-member probe body to investigate the deadly explosion at Seema Oxygen Plant in Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila on Saturday afternoon that left six dead and dozens injured.

The additional district magistrate has been made the head of the probe body. The committee has been asked to submit its inquiry report within seven days.

The incident took place at around 4:30pm, and nine units from the fire service managed to douse the flames at 5:40pm.

Locals said that the massive explosion shook the surrounding area by at least two square kilometres.

The reason behind the blast and fire could not be known immediately.

On June 4 last year, a deadly fire broke out BM Container Depot, only a few kilometres away from Saturday's blast, that claimed 51 lives, including members of the fire services, and left more than 200 people injured.
