A sixth-grader student has been brutally tortured by a man on allegation of stealing from his store at Shalikha upazila of Magura.
The student was rescued and admitted to Shalikha Upazila Health Complex.
Hasan, the main accused in the incident, was held by police following the incident, Shalikha police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bisharul Islam confirmed.
According to the sixth-grader's family, the boy went to the mosque to offer Friday prayers when Hasan, a local grocer, accused him of stealing.
At one point, Hasan led the boy into a room and tortured him with nails and hammers.
At that time, the victim was also forced to admit to stealing on video.
He was later rescued and taken to the hospital with the aid of Shalikha police station.
Shalikha Upazila Health Complex duty doctor Dr Fahmida Zaman Snigdha said the student was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. He he has multiple injuries on his legs and body.
OC Bisharul said: “Hasan has been placed in custody. If additional complaints are received, legal action will be pursued.”
