Police have detained three Jamaat-Shibir activists along with cocktails and a number of extremist books in Barisal.
The arrestees are Ibrahim Khalil Bahari, 35, of Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district, Raihan Howladar, 19, and Mehdi Hasan, 20, of Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur district.
They lived in a house at Haji Manjil at BSCIC area of the city.
Acting on a tip off that Jamaat-Shibir activists were planning to march from the Barisal river port area, a police team conducted an operation to detain the three activists.
At this point, several books as well as three unexploded cocktails were recovered.
Barisal Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azimul Karim informed the three Jamaat-Shibir activists who had been detained that they would be sent to jail unless they appeared in court and filed a complaint.
“The operation is still going on to arrest their cohorts,” he added.
