Lowest temperature of 8.5°C recorded in Sreemangal

A mild cold wave is also sweeping over the region

People of Sreemangal upazila in Moulvibazar have started to feel the bite of the extreme cold as the temperature is gradually decreasing here for the last few days.

According to the met office, the lowest temperature of 8.5°C was recorded in Sreemangal on Tuesday. 

The severity of winter is increasing and the temperature has started to decrease in the upazila. As the night falls, the winter increases. 

In the morning and at night, the intensity of winter remains extreme, but during the day, it feels warm due to the sunshine. 

In the early hours of the morning and after afternoon and evening, vast layers of fog are seen swirling around and fully covering Sreemangal including haor and char areas. 

Poor people are the worst sufferers due to lack of warm clothes.

Along with this, Children and old people are suffering from various diseases due to winter.

Md Anisur Rahman, assistant meteorological observatory of Sreemangal office, said that the lowest temperature of the country was recorded here on Tuesday morning. 

 He also said that the severity of winter is increasing in Sreemangal due to the drop in temperature. 

A mild cold wave is also sweeping over the region, said the official.

According to met office records, the severity of winter here will increase in the future as the temperature will gradually fall. 

The mild cold wave blowing through many places in Bangladesh will prevail for some more days and spread to other parts of the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast on Tuesday. 

As a result, the weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country. Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during midnight to morning, the BMD report added.
