A Jubo League leader was killed in a clash allegedly over a land dispute in Pabna on Friday.
The incident took place in a village in Parshadanga union of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Anisur Rahman Anis, 50, vice president of the Parshadanga unit Jubo League.
According to family members and locals, one Aynal Haque and Anisur Rahman were at odds over a piece of land for a long time.
On Friday morning, when Anisur Rahman attempted to build a boundary wall on the land, Aynal Haque and his family members stopped him.
Later, a clash erupted between the two groups, in which they used locally made weapons. At one point, Anisur Rahman was hit with a shovel on the head.
He was taken to a local health complex where the doctor declared him dead. At least five others were also injured in the incident.
In this regard, Chatmohar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin said: “Police visited the spot after being informed of the matter. Three people have been immediately detained for questioning.”
The body has been sent for autopsy, the OC added.
