Over 4,000 police personnel, apart from members of other law enforcement agencies, have been deployed in the Marine Drive and other areas of Cox's Bazar to ensure rock-solid security for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's much-anticipated visit to the city.
Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman on Tuesday told Dhaka Tribune that the prime minister will launch a four-day International Fleet Review at the Inani beach in Ukhiya on Wednesday.
She will later address a crowd at Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium.
There is a four-layer security perimeter at the locations, the police officer said.
Plainclothesmen will also be on duty, and intelligence agencies are monitoring the areas, he added.
A mechanism for controlling traffic movement has been set up, the SP said.
Police officers from other districts are also on duty in Cox's Bazar, he said,
He further remarked that Cox's Bazar is now a fully protected area.
