Two dismembered body parts of five-year-old Alina Islam Ayat, who was murdered after going missing in Chittagong's EPZ police station area, have been recovered.
On Wednesday afternoon, two dismembered parts were recovered from the side of sluice gate in the Akmal Ali Road area, said Elias Khan, an inspector of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
“We found two leg-like parts in two polyethene bags. It will be possible to determine whether the two parts are legs after investigation,” he added.
Earlier, on November 15, Alina Islam Ayat went missing from her home in the Bandartila Nayarhat Electricity Office area while on her way to a nearby mosque to study Arabic.
The following day, her father, Sohel Rana, filed a report at EPZ police station.

After analyzing CCTV footage, the PBI announced the arrest of Abir Ali, a tenant of Ayat's family, after nine days of the incident, on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
The PBI claimed that the accused Abir confessed to killing Ayat. He strangled Ayat while attempting to kidnap her to collect a ransom of Tk15-20 lakh.
Later, the police remanded Abir for two days for the first time on Saturday. At that time, the PBI carried out a sting operation in the Sagarpar area beside Akmal Ali road, in order to recover Ayat's dismembered body.
Abir was then remanded for seven days in the second phase on Monday.
On Tuesday, during the first day of remand in the second phase, the court granted Abir's parents remand for three days.
On the same day, the court ordered Abir's 15-year-old sister to be questioned at the Victim Support Centre in the presence of a probation officer.
