Gaibandha man stabbed to death while going for prayers

The murder weapon was found near the mosque, say police

A man from Gaibanbandha was stabbed to death by miscreants while he was on his way to a mosque for Isha prayer on Monday. 

The incident took place at around 7:45pm, near a market Gobindaganj upazila, reports Bangla Tribune.  

The deceased has been identified as Abdur Rahman Masud, 42, a local businessman of the upazila.

He was also the owner of the National Hosiery Factory, and a lab assistant at Shamim and Shakeel Technical College of the upazila.

Police and witnesses said that Masud was going to the mosque to offer Isha prayers at night, when some miscreants stabbed him in the throat. 

At that time, Masud ran from them and fell on the street. Locals rushed him to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Centre. 

When his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra. However, he died on the road before reaching the hospital. 

Meanwhile, the victim's brother Shah Alam has claimed that it was a planned murder. 

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj police station Izar Uddin the knife used in the murder was recovered from in front of the mosque. 

“We are investigating the murder. Murderers will be arrested,” he added.
