Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee has condemned a Facebook comment by a district judge in Naogaon where he made offensive remarks about the Indian cricket team after they lost a World Cup match by a big margin.
Naogaon Second Additional District and Sessions Judge Hasan Mahmudul Islam made the comment on a post by one Emran after the Indians lost to South Africa in the recently concluded ICC World Cup Twenty20 semifinals.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, in a statement on Wednesday, said that the organization was concerned seeing posts on social networking sites, condemning the derogatory comment.
The committee said that it could not verify the authenticity of the news spread on social media. But since the judge did not give any rejoinder, the issue demands further investigation.
The committee said the position of the judge was vital to ensuring justice for the people, and thus, the issue should be investigated.
It called on Law Minister Anisul Haque to take appropriate measures in this regard.
