The triennial conference of Tangail district Awami League would take place after almost seven years on Monday afternoon.
Leaders and activists of Awami League are expecting huge number of people attending the conference. The party leaders and activists are eagerly waiting to know who will be the next president and general secretary.
The party leaders and activists said that preparatory meetings have already been held with upazila, union Awami League and allied organizations to make the conference successful and worthwhile.
It is mentionable that Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruque was elected president and Joaherul Islam Joaher general secretary on October 18, 2015 to form a committee for three years. However, seven years had passed with the same committee.
There is no contest for Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruque in the president's post while a number of names are learnt for the position of upcoming general secretary.
Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, AL presidium member and agriculture minister, will inaugurate the conference while Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader will be the chief guest.
Tangail district AL President Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruque would preside over the event to be attended by Awami League President Council Member Shahjahan Khan, Abdur Rahman, Kamrul Islam, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Education Minister Dipu Moni.
MP and Central Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam will be present as the main speaker.
