It is believed that Hasim carried out such propaganda intentionally to hide the real criminals, say police

Md Hasim, a young man who confessed to murdering four people, including three leaders (majhi) and a volunteer, in the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, has been missing from the camp for a long time, say police.

Although the address given in the video message is accurate, the information about the murder was wrong, says the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

Hasim has resorted to lies in the video message to hide the real killers, they said.

Hasim’s father Abdul Jabbar said: “My son has become a terrorist. He has been missing for a long time. The information disclosed in the video is completely false. Maybe someone forced him to make a video to hide the real truth.”

He demanded his son’s arrest to find out the truth.

“Hasim has been staying outside his own shelter for the past few months. After verifying the intelligence information obtained from various sources, we initially found that Hasim's statement is wrong,” said APBn-8 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Farooq Ahmed.

“We believe that Hasim carried out such propaganda intentionally to hide the real criminals,” he added.

The official said that the police are still trying to take his words seriously and arrest the perpetrators.

Md Hasim, 21, released a video message on Facebook admitting killing four people in Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

The video later went viral on social media.
