Police on Thursday detained a man from Tangail after he hacked his marriage broker to death allegedly after his wife divorced him.
The incident took place in the district’s Digar union, Ghatail police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azharul Islam said.
The arrestee, 25-year-old Almas was arrested after the incident was reported. A case will be filed in this regard soon, the OC added.
The deceased, Abdul Jalil, 65, was the matchmaker for Almas' third marriage in 2019.
Jalil’s nephew said: “Almas got married again in 2019. But as this marriage too ended up in a divorce, he hacked my uncle to death with sharp weapons.”
