At least 50 people, including 30 policemen, were injured during a clash at a BNP protest rally in Munshiganj’s Muktarpur on Wednesday.
The incident took place at 4pm when the district unit of BNP organized a protest march in the district.
The conflict began when police attempted to intervene the protest program.
Police Superintendent (SP) Abdullah Al Mamun said: “BNP leaders and activists launched an attack when police tried to block their rally. At least 30 policemen were injured in this incident. Now the situation is under control. The injured have been taken to Munshiganj General Hospital.”
Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Minhaj Ul Islam was among the injured during the clash.
BNP activists claimed several of their injured activists were recieving treatment at the hospital.
