Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) have seized 5,480 litres of stolen diesel from a boat during a drive at Mongla in Bagerhat early Wednesday.
Coast guard Zonal Commander Lt Commander BNM Mamunur Rahman said that the special operation was conducted by BCG Base Mongla under Coast Guard West Zone in Mongla coastal area.
Besides the fuel, 1,000 meters of various types of rope used in ships were also seized during the drive.
However, no one was held in this connection as the smugglers fled the scene sensing the presence of the coast guard.
The stolen diesel, rope and steel body boats were handed over to Mongla police station for further legal action.
