Rastra Sangskar Andolan leader arrested under DSA

The arrestee allegedly made derogatory remarks on different issues relating to Islam using his Facebook account

Law enforcers have arrested a leader of Rastra Sanskar Andolan on charges of hurting religious sentiment in a case lodged under the Digital Security Act in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar.

Preetam Das, a member of the national executive committee of the newly-formed party, was arrested around 7pm.

Humayun Kabir, an inspector (investigation) at Sreemangal police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. 

Recently, the arrestee allegedly made derogatory remarks on different issues relating to Islam using his Facebook account, police said.

Local people came out on the streets and demonstrated demanding his arrest. They also threatened a larger movement if the accused was not arrested in a speedy manner. 

Later, Chhatra League leader Mahbubul Alam filed the case with Sreemangal police station on August 31.
