Girl drowns in Jamalpur flood water

An eight-year-old girl was found dead after drowning in the flood water in Jmalapur’s Islampur on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Arifa, daughter of Alam Miah, a resident of West Bamna Ghonapara village.
Abdus Salam, chairman of Chinaduli Union Parishad of Islampur upazila, confirmed the matter.
He said the low-lying areas of the upazila have been inundated due to heavy rains and an onrush of hilly water. Water entered some of the house yards, including Arifa’s house. She went missing in that water.
She died while playing in the water. Later, her body was recovered later, he added.
