Police have arrested 31 people in connection with an attack on police at Adamjee Shahi Jame Mosque in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj during a protest over the recent anti-Islam remarks by BJP leaders in India.
They were arrested early Monday from Sumilpara Bihari Colony in Siddhirganj during a raid between 1am to 4am.
On Friday, hundreds of Muslims protested over the recent anti-Islam remarks by BJP leaders in India after prayers.
The protesters alleged that the police interrupted them from participating in the demonstration.

At that time, the locals launched an attack where Siddhirganj police station Sub Inspector (SI) Syed Azizul Haque was injured.
On Saturday, Siddhirganj police SI Mirza Shahidul Islam filed a case in this connection.
Thus residents of Adamjee Bihari Camp surrounded the Siddhirganj police station at 8am on Monday and protested in front of the main gate.
When they attempted to talk to the police a chase and counter chase began between the groups. The Biharis started throwing bricks at the police. Police used batons, tear gas and shotguns to disperse them.
Police said the protesters obstructed the EPZ's pocket gate, railway gate and the streets.
Despite assuring them of a solution, they refused to come off the road and began throwing bricks in reverse.
To control the situation police threw tear shells and fired shotguns.
