No respite from heat anytime soon

Highest temperature recorded at 38.9°C in Rajshahi

Brace for warmer days ahead, as the weather department has predicted the heatwave spell to continue in Bangladesh.

A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rangamati, Rajshahi and Pabna, and it may continue, the Met Office said in its bulletin on Thursday.

Meanwhile, rain or thundershower with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary cloudy skies elsewhere. 

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 38.9°C in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was 22.6°C in Sreemangal in Sylhet division, according to the bulletin.

The trough of westerly low lies over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas, and the seasonal low lies over the South Bay, according to the department.
