Three children of a residential madrasa in Comilla's Baruda Upazila have been raped in the span of two days.

The boys, aged ten, are cousins. They belong to two families of Narindra village in Bhabanipur Union of the upazila.

Accused Ali Akbar, 55, has been absconding since the matter came to light.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Majumder of Baruda police station confirmed the matter on Monday.

According to local UP chairman Khalilur Rahman, the victims went to play in the field near Akbar’s house on Saturday and Sunday.

Later, Akbar took them to his place showing them the temptation of chocolate and raped them.

OC Iqbal said two rape cases were filed over the incidents that created much hype in the area.

“The children will also be sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital on Tuesday for medical examination. Drives are underway to bring the accused to book,” he continued.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old madrasa teacher has been sent to jail in a case filed for raping a student of the same institution in Panchagarh.

Panchagarh Chief Judicial Court Judge Humayun Kabir Sarkar passed the order on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.

Accused Yasin Arafat, from Nilphamari, is a teacher of Dudumari Hafezia Madrasa in Sadar Upazila.

According to the case, on March 11, Yasin took a 12-year-old student to his room and raped him.

The student went home the next day. Later, when he objected to going to a madrasa, the victim’s father wanted to know the reason. At that time, the boy said the teacher had raped him.

The madrasa authorities did not take any action against the teacher even after the matter was reported to them. After that, locals along with the guardian captured the teacher and informed the police.

On Monday afternoon, the victim's father filed a case against Yasin. Police arrested him and produced him in court, said Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif Mia of Panchagarh Sadar police station.
