The probe committee formed to look into the recent deaths of several animals at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur has submitted its report.
The 18-page report was submitted to the ministry on Sunday, said the head of the probe committee Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, an additional secretary to the forest ministry.
However, the official did not make any comments on the findings. “The ministry will reveal the information and suggestions added in the report,” he added.
As many as 11 zebras, a tiger and a lion have died in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park since January 2 this year.
The Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change has formed an investigation committee to look into the matter on January 26.
On January 31, Assistant Forest Conservator Tabibur Rahman and Safari Park Veterinary Officer Hatem Sajjad Md Zulkarnain were removed from the park for the sake of a proper investigation.
Zahidul Kabir, the park's project director, has also been relieved of his post and replaced by Mollah Rezaul Karim, the forest conservator of Dhaka.
On February 10, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock appointed three consultants to probe into deaths at the park.
Local MP Iqbal Hossain Sabuj recently alleged that the zebras had been "killed" by safari park officials "due to internal conflicts".
Neither the park authorities nor the ministry has commented on the allegations so far.
