Missing teen’s body found after 72 hours in Karnaphuli River

The body was found by divers searching for another father-son duo who went missing on Sunday

The Navy rescued the body of another missing teenager in Chittagong's Karnaphuli River, while looking for the father-son due who went missing on Sunday.

The body was recovered from the middle of Anu Majhir Ghat and FR Green Ghat areas at around 8am on Monday, said Sadarghat Naval Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman. 

The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 14, son of Abu Rahman of Firingi Bazar area. 

The deceased's father Abu Rahman said: “My son went to bathe in the river on Friday. He was nowhere to be found, despite extensive searches.”

Meanwhile, the diving team of the Fire Service has launched a second day rescue operation to find the fisherman and his son who went missing after their boat sank in the Karnaphuli River.

The rescue operation began at 8am on Monday, said Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Kutub Uddin.

"Five divers from the Fire Service were working to find the missing fisherman and his son. Since the weather is getting colder, the operation will go on until 8pm."
