Jamalpur correspondent of Banglanews24.com Golam Rabbani Nadim was attacked by miscreants and seriously injured at Pathati area in Bakshiganj of Jamalpur Wednesday night.
Nadim's family alleged that Sadhurpara union parishad Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu's people attacked Nadim.
According to local residents and Nadim's colleagues, miscreants attacked Nadim in Pathati area on his way back home after work. They left Nadim unconscious and ran away.
At that time, the locals rescued him in a serious condition and took him to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex. Later at 12pm, he was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment.
He was then admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition on Thursday morning.
Nadim's wife Monira Begum said that Sadhurpara union parishad Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu's men attacked Nadim and seriously injured him. She demanded exemplary punishment in this incident.
Nadim's son Abdullah Al Mamun Rifat said: “My father lost consciousness at one point after being beaten by the cadre forces under the orders of Chairman Mahmudul Hasan Babu. After being taken to the hospital, he vomited several times around 2am. He has still not regained consciousness.”
Dr SM Shahidur Rahman, the doctor on duty at Jamalpur General Hospital, said that the head and other parts of the body were fatally injured. The patient's condition is very critical. Details will be given after the examination.
Bakshiganj police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Sohel Rana said that the police went to the hospital after receiving information about the incident. However, as Nadim was unconscious, the identity of the attackers could not be ascertained yet.
The OC said that the police have started a search to identify the attackers.
