A school teacher has been gang raped while returning home from a program in Cox’s Bazar.
The incident was reported from Jhilongja Union’s Banglabazar bridge on August 19. A case was filed over the matter on Monday.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police OC Md Selim Uddin confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Police said that the survivor had gone to attend the mehendi program of her niece on August 18.
There she met Bedar Mia, 28, and three of four others who are yet to be identified.
The next morning, she was returning home from her niece’s house, Bedar and his accomplices stopped the easy bike she was on near Banglabazar bridge.
At one point they abducted her and took her to an under-construction building where Bedar and three others raped her.
They fled when she started screaming.
The survivor’s family said that they tried to file a case with Ramu Police Station but they did not accept the case. Later Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model police accepted the case on Monday night.
OC Selim Uddin says that they have recorded the survivor’s statement and efforts were underway to catch the perpetrators.
