The Media Educators' Network (MEN) has expressed concern over the withdrawal of suspension of a Khulna University teacher, accused of sexually harassing a female colleague, last year.
The sexual harassment prevention committee of the university recently said that they had not taken the complaint – filed in September – into cognizance since the incident had taken place outside the campus, the MEN said in a statement, signed by 51 teachers of different public and private universities.
The KU Syndicate withdrew the expulsion order on June 8, nearly 10 months after the complaint was filed, the statement said.
Even after the submission of the complaint, the accused harassed the female teacher again by calling her on phone and sending texts.
The complainant testified before the committee three times but has been denied justice, the statement said, demanding punishment following a thorough probe into the matter.
