A mobile court is fining people for getting down on the Padma Bridge and taking photos.
On Monday, the Madaripur and Munshiganj district administrations jointly carried out the raid.
Bangladesh Bridge Authority Supervising Engineer Tofazzal Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, a mobile court on Monday fined Tk 1,000 to a young man for breaching rules while crossing the Padma Bridge.
The mobile court led by executive magistrate of the local administration Ashraful Kabir slapped the fine to Fakhrul Alam, a car driver along with a group of five people for taking selfies after parking the car on the bridge in the afternoon.
Three teams under the administration are working at the Padma Bridge’s Mawa end, he said, adding, “The mobile court will continue until further notice.”
Tofazzal Hossain said a mobile court is being run to prevent chaos in Padma Bridge. There are law enforcement agencies outside the toll plaza to prevent motorcyclists from causing trouble.
The overall situation is normal at the moment, he added.
According to the government, getting down on the Padma Bridge and taking photos there is a punishable offence.
The Padma Bridge was opened to the public on Sunday and the day was an eventful one.
Many were seen taking photos on the bridge midway and taking photos. The security was relaxed as it was the first day.
However, a number of incidents, including a fatal accident on the first day of the opening prompted authorities to beef up security.
