A honey collector has reportedly been killed in a tiger attack in the Satkhira range of the Sundarbans.
The incident was reported from the Khejurdana area under Notabeki Forest Office at around 10am on Saturday.
The deceased is Kausar Gain, 27, a resident of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira.
Kausar had a fishing permit and went fishing in the Sundarbans on Thursday, said local resident Dr Sharif Uddin. He had been attacked by a tiger near Notabeki canal, he added.
Led by Dr Sharif, Forest Department officials and locals formed a 25-member emergency rescue team to recover Kausar's body. They went into the forest at around 9:30am on Sunday.
Burigoalini Forest Station Officer Nur Alam said he had heard about the incident and was aware of the recovery effort.
