A fake doctor in Bagerhat has been jailed for a year by a mobile court after returning to his office a day after being fined Tk1 lakh for medical quackery.
MM Moniruzzaman, 38, was sent to Bagerhat jail on Thursday.
Locals detained him while he was seeing a patient in his office in the Solambaria area of Morrelganj upazila. Executive Magistrate Md Ali Hassan sentenced him to a year in jail under the Medical and Dental Council Act, 2010.
Earlier, on Tuesday, a mobile court slapped Moniruzzaman with a fine of Tk1 lakh for seeing patients and prescribing medicines using fake degrees and sealed off his chamber.
At the time he also put it in writing that he would not provide medical care to anyone anymore.
