A sub-inspector of the Bandar police outpost in Narayanganj has been withdrawn on allegations of his involvement in the death of a youth, who owned a T-shirt factory.
Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder case filed by the victim’s mother Lily Begum.
On Wednesday afternoon, locals complained to the Bandar police station demanding stern punishment of SI Rowshan Ferdous after they discovered the body of Niloy Ahmed Babu, 24, in the pond.
The body was later sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy.
He went missing on Sunday night after jumping into the adjacent pond from the roof of his house in Bagbari area of the town, fearing that the police might harass him.

SI Rowshan conducted the raid at the request of Hasina Begum, who alleged that Babu had been dillydallying to return her money.
Lily Begum said: “SI Rowshan and several other persons went to the roof and threw bricks at Babu. They also threatened to harm us.”
Officer-in-Charge of Bandar police station Dipak Chandra Saha said that they would conduct a departmental investigation before taking further action against SI Rowshan.
