Two Faridpur brothers, who are accused of escaping with Tk10 crore in 2006 collected from 2,700 clients of two NGOs they founded, have reappeared, triggering outrage in the area.
MA Karim and Saiful Islam Sanal, hailing from Machhar of the district, founded "Pran Sanchoy Samiti" and "Udoy Sanchoy Samiti" in 1998.
From a human chain near the Dhulandi Railgate Bazar on Monday, the deceived locals demanded the punishment of the siblings.
They said some of the clients had falsely been charged by the younger brother when they asked for their money after the return of the duo.
Previously, the victims also requested various organizations and the authorities concerned, including the Prime Minister's Office, for an investigation and punishment of the two brothers.
The accused brothers have denied all the accusations, and said that the people were not supposed to receive any money from them.
Inspector MA Jalil of Kotwali police station said that he was not aware of this issue, but said he would take necessary steps after an investigation.
