A case has been filed over the rape of a woman from a minority family at gunpoint in Jamalpur’s Islampur Upazila on Saturday.
Islampur police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Majedur Rahman said Kamal Hossain, 35, from nearby Darjipara area, raped the woman at his own house in the Rouharkanda Palpara area of Islampur Municipality on Wednesday night.
The next day, the 26-year-old woman informed her husband and family members about the incident and filed a case against Kamal.
According to the victims’ husband, Kamal raped his wife when she was alone at home, threatening to kill her and her three-year-old child.
“I demand exemplary punishment for the accused,” he said.
The Islampur police OC said a drive is underway to arrest the accused.
