Suspected UPDF activist held with firearms in Rangamati

The accused has been involved in extortion and murder for quite some time, say law enforcers

Security forces in the hill tract district of Rangamati held a suspected activist of United Peoples' Democratic Front (UPDF) with firearms on Friday. 

Prashant Thanchangya, 52, was nabbed from the Kharikhyong area of Rangamati Sadar upazila after midnight, said Additional Superintendent of Police Mahmuda Begum.

A  pistol, two rounds of ammunition, four notebooks, a walkie-talkie, and a copy of the extortion money receipt was found in his possession. 

According to security forces, Prashant is an active member of UPDF and has been involved in extortion and murder for quite some time.
