Road accidents: Four dead in Narsigndi, two in Dinajpur

Three-wheeler collides head-on with pickup van in Narsingdi while trucks crash into each other in Dinajpur

Six people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Narsingdi districts on Friday.

In Narsingdi, four people were killed and another injured when a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a pickup van in the Raipura area.

The deceased were identified as driver of the autorickshaw, Ain Uddin, 40, passengers Kaiyum Uddin Shakil, 18, Abdur Rouf, 62, and Monir Hossain 35.

The incident took place in front of Sajal Bhuiyan LPG filling station on Raipura-Narsingdi regional highway in Mirganj union of the upazila in the morning, said Raipura police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman.

A woman injured in the accident was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital with severe injuries.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the hospital for autopsy.

In Dinajpur, a truck driver and his assistant were killed in a head-on collision with a lorry on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in the district in the early hours.

The deceased driver was identified as KM Saiful Islam Badsha, 49, from Natore, while his assistant could not be identified immediately, said OC Ashraful Islam of Fulbari police station.

The driver of the lorry also suffered minor injuries in the accident, he said.

The accident occurred around 3am near the Rajarampur Fakirpara area of the district's Phulbari upazila when the Panchagarh-bound truck carrying bricks crashed into the Naogaon-bound potato-laden lorry coming from the opposite direction at high speed.

Truck driver Badsha and his assistant died on the spot in the impact, said the OC.

Both the vehicles have been seized.
